This Year Island Girl Shave Ice turns 10! Island Girl Shave Ice truly began with our love for the Hawaiian Islands. Every visit left us wishing we could bottle up that feeling—the sunshine, the flavors, the laid-back island vibe—and bring a little taste of paradise back home.
For three years, the idea lived in my head.
Should I start it? Shouldn’t I?
I went back and forth more times than I can count.
Then came the uh-huh moment.
It was the dead of winter, at an event where I suddenly realized that a kiosk made far more sense than a truck or trailer. A kiosk meant flexibility. It meant events beyond just the summer months. That moment changed everything.
And just like that, Island Girl Shave Ice was born.
I built the kiosk, ordered the machines, bottles, and everything else in between. I had a logo designed and jumped straight into events—honestly, with no clue what I was doing and no one showing me the ropes. It was trial by fire.
Some things worked.
Some things didn’t.
We failed fast, adapted quickly, kept what worked, and let go of what didn’t. That first summer in 2016, we were everywhere—events, grand openings, catering jobs—and we loved every single moment of it. This was the beginning our Island Girl Shave Ice story.
What started as an idea fueled by island dreams quickly became something bigger: a business rooted in community, celebration, and bringing people together one cup at a time.
Now, as we celebrate 10 years of Island Girl Shave Ice, we’re getting ready for our biggest summer yet—and the next chapter of our story is just around the corner.
